General Motor issues a recall for around 4,296 Chevrolet Sonic subcompact models to inspect for missing brake pads.
In a statement the company said that the absence of brake pads will not allow the vehicle to be stopped immediately, which potentially contributes to a crash.
The 2012 Chevy Sonic Models are affected in this recall. GM says only less number of cars will be affected by this recall and from 14th of January the customers affected by the recall will start receiving letters from their respective dealers.
GM says that they are not aware of the crashes that may happen because of the missing pads. If a pad is missing, the dealer will install a new one at no cost from the customer.
As of till the Sonic is the only subcompact car built in the United States.
